AJC 2011 - Itinerary 44 - 'Klinging'To Their Beliefs

that no one would notice the peculiar ‘other’ brother in the family, the Millers lived their quiet lives at the end of the street.
The next door neighbours (until they moved away(a frequent occurance) said that ‘they always kept themselves to themselves’ but they did always wonder why the apple trees in the back garden never seemed to bear any fruit.
Pa Miller never spoke of why his family had increased by one so mysteriously while he was away at a Silo Painters Convention in Saskatoon. To him, a son was a son no matter that he was a bit of a bonehead and enjoyed eating raw worms for breakfast washed down with a pint or two of arsenic.
It wasn’t until the last Miller died and the home put up for auction, that Ma Miller’s diary was found containing ‘reciepts’ and dietary advice on how to raise a Klingon to maturity.
And as for the back garden and those hapless apple trees?
While digging the ground up in the back garden, hundreds of empty arsenic bottles were found.
